Gunmen Demand N30m To Release Abducted Businessman

The abductors of a businessman, Mr. Dapo Coker, have demanded N30m ransom as a condition for releasing him. It was gathered that Coker, who owns DAPSEY OIL filling station in Igando, was abducted on the night of Monday, September 22, 2014, while driving home after the close of work.
A close family source, who pleaded anonymity, said the assailants did not touch phones and other personal belongings in the vehicle.

According to the family source, the police discovered his vehicle the following morning with the two phones.
When PUNCH Metro visited the filling station, it was closed.A trader around the vicinity, who chose to remain anonymous, said the station had been closed for some days. Continue reading....


Also speaking on the condition of anonymity, a man who claimed to be an employee of the filling station, said the abductors had refused to reduce the N30m.
He said, “The kidnappers are insisting on N30m and have refused to reduce the ransom.
“I heard that they have instructed the family to convert the money to its dollar equivalent and bring it to Ghana.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Police Command, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the abduction.He, however, added that the police were not aware of any negotiation for ransom.
He said, “The man (Coker) was kidnapped and his vehicle was recovered by the police with all his phones intact.

“The case has been transferred to SARS for further investigations.We are working hard to rescue the victim and arrest the kidnappers.The issue of ransom is not known to us. The police are not aware of any negotiation for ransom. The relatives of the victim will be in a better position to talk on that.”
