The Barcelona forward went one better than a hat-trick as he hogged the limelight in Brazil's thrashing of the Asian side. Neymar was in scintillating form as he smashed an awe-inspiring four goals past Japan when Brazil battered the Asian nation 4-0 on Tuesday.
Since then, Brazil have won all four of their games - against Colombia and Ecuador last month, Argentina on Saturday in a Superclasico friendly in Beijing and now Japan. See video of goals after cut....
Neymar's injury in the quarter-final stage of the World Cup has been pinpointed by many as when Brazil mentally derailed as hosts of the competition and the Barcelona forward proved his importance by scoring every goal against Japan.
The 22-year-old opened the scoring with 18 minutes gone, beating the offside to collect Diego Tardelli's pass and convert, before doubling the score and his tally just after half-time.
Captaining his country, Neymar didn't relent, adding another by putting away a parried Coutinho shot before heading home Kaka's cross with nine minutes left on the clock.
