The Ugandan baby girl who was brutally assaulted by her nanny for vomiting while eating dinner is now recovering under her parents’ supervision at home.
The story of a 2-year-old Aneela Kamanzi that touched the hearts of
hundreds of thousands of Nigerians and Ugandans has a happy
ending. Initially reports suggested Aneela had died as a result of the
vicious assault on November 15, but investigators said she was alive and
recovering from her injuries.
The 22-year-old nanny, Jolly Tumuhiirwe, who was caught on camera
abusing a baby after parents left for work, was arrested and charged
under the Anti-torture Act. She faces up to 15 years in jail for
attempted murder and is due to appear in court for second hearing on the

It would be recalled that the act of violence was revealed after
Aneela’s father had discovered bruises on his daughter and viewed video
from security cameras in the family home. Immediately after that a
furous father have beaten Tumuhiirwe ‘to a pulp’.
She later reported the assault to police and Kamanzi was arrested after
admitting he had attacked her. But after showing police the security
tapes of the assault on Aneela, the charges against Kamanzi were
dropped.
