Pregnant Woman Commtis suicide in Edo state

A  woman in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Ometere Aduga, has reportedly committed suicide.
The mother of two children, who was pregnant, was said to have committed the act by hanging herself with a rope she tied to a ceiling fan.
Her  body was  discovered in her apartment hours after she did not come out of bathroom, where she said she was going.
A neighbour said the victim had, a few days ago, visited a private hospital, where she was said to have told the hospital personnel of her intention to commit suicide because of a pregnancy she was carrying.
She was said to have been counselled against the act and told to report back on Monday for medical examination and counseling.
“Ometere was a very brilliant girl who was a 300- level medical student at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, before she withdrew due to health reasons. She also had some mental disorder but later recovered and married. Her husband is not from here, so she has been staying with her parents,” a family friend said.
When contacted, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Hilary Udoh, confirmed the incident, saying, “yes, it is true and the parents said they have taken it in good faith.”
