Three people allegedly were burnt alive a night inferno
destroyed two buildings in Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area of Delta
State, on Christmas day.
According to the Daily Independent, the fire started at about 10:30 p.m. in a brothel and allegedly spread to another building. The cause of the fire wasn’t revealed as at the press time.
“Those burnt to death in the inferno at the Orhuwhorun junction were a middle-aged man, a suspected prostitute, and an 11-year-old boy,” a source who didn’t want his name in print told.
Reportedly, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire.
A councilor representing Udu Local Government Area ward 10, Ovwian, Hon. Alfred Orukpe, said: “The fire started in one of the buildings at Orhuwhorun junction at about 10:30 p.m. and we quickly called for fire fighting trucks which came to curtail the inferno. At the end two buildings were gutted by the fire.”
