Some everyday habits which you though were harmless can seriously damage your teeth.
1. Playing contact games with your teeth unprotected
Try to wear molded plastic to protect your teeth. Otherwise you can get it chipped or even knocked off. So buy one in a sport store or ask you dentist to make you one.
2. Tongue or mouth piercing
Piercings can be trendy. But metal stud can crack your tooth easily. It can also cause gum damage. Your mouth is a home for a lot of bacteria. So piercing increases the risk of infections and sores. Before making it – you should consult your dentist first.
3. Teeth grinding
Usually it is caused by stress or sleeping habits. So it is hard to control. Try to avoid hard food during the day. Continue after the cut....
4. Candies and cough drops
Just because they are being sold in medicine departments it doesn’t mean they are healthy. The majority of them are overloaded with sugar. Bacteria in your mouth make this sugars into acid that destroy teeth enamel.
5. Soda
Soda is even worse than candies. Some servings of soda can contain more than 11 teaspoons of sugar in it. We may also add that sodas also contain phosphoric and citric acids, which harm tooth enamel.
6. Opening something with your teeth
When you open bottle caps or plastic packages your teeth can cause them to crack or chip. Please use your teeth for eating. And keep scissors and bottle openers handy.
7. Chewing pencils
A lot of people chew pens and pencils when they try to concentrate on studies or work. This habit can cause teeth damaging. It is better to take a sugar-free gum to chew.
8. Too much coffee
Coffee can cause yellowing of your teeth. But fortunately to restore the white colour is relatively easy. Talk to your doctor if you are concerned about the colour of your teeth getting darker.
